Howlo!

I'm back with a new pic, once again. It's been a while since I've posted and I thought I'd start with a gift pic for She did such an awesome job with my reference sheet, I've been dying to do something cool for her ever since...

So, I give you Qar! It's a little critter she came up with that's part fox, bat, kangaroo, and I think deer. She's made three pics of this unique species, but nobody's drawn a pic of Qar yet. I thought I'd give it a try.

It may seem like a play on words (Qar rhymes with guitar), but the inspiration really comes from the Fender Stratocaster I own in real life. Even though I don't know how to play it yet, I hope to learn. Qar just strikes me as a character that may wanna pick up the guitar too.

I worked really hard on this. It took me about two days to finish, but I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I even held back as best as I could. I didn't show or tell many people about this pic because I wanted to get an honest first reaction from everyone posting it here. Please comment. I put a lot into this one.

There's only one thing I would do differently. I'm sure Holly might notice this right off the bat... The wings are too big! The character is not supposed to be able to fly. The wings are mainly just for looks and for gliding when he jumps, nothing more. However, I think if you look at these wings, you'll realize they wouldn't be able to carry his weight either. I just wanted to draw bigger wings to give him a real good Rockstar appearance. Sorry, Holly.

I hope everyone likes everything else, though. There's a lot of detail to appreciate.

Just look at that guitar! Yes, that's hand drawn. I only used the line tool for the guitar strings. I can't believe how well and realistic I drew a guitar with my first try, though I stopped just short of drawing an amp hooked up to it.

Where's his pick? Who needs one when you have claws?
